Pius X Tilburg

In a low quarter neighborhood in Tilburg the local union of architects organized an architectural competition for a redevelopment of a site with an abandoned church. Our proposal was selected for first prize and constructed. The program contained 51 apartments, a small church space, a library, and community center. As a contrast to the existing environment we proposed a building with full glazed facades that would reflect the old simple row houses.
With this reflecting volume the width of the street became virtually wider than the actual size. And by this, the new volume in 3 and 5 stories seems to evaporate.
